KawaMitsu (カワミツ KawaMitsu) is the term used to refer to the romantic relationship between Kawaki and Mitsuki.

Kawaki Arc[]
After hearing Boruto complaining about how insufferable it is to live under the same roof as Kawaki, Sarada suggests she and Mitsuki make a surprise visit over to Boruto's house to spy on Kawaki which Mitsuki accepts. Once their there, Boruto asks why their there since they dont come visit often, Mitsuki bluntly admits that they came there to spy on Kawaki, causing Sarada to freak out and try to shush him, but Mitsuki further exposes them by admitting it was her idea to do so. Kawaki, somewhat annoyed, appreciates Mitsuki's honesty.
Mitsuki introduces himself to Kawaki and reaches out his hand for a handshake, however, Kawaki rejects it because he isnt going to trust shaking hands with someone he just met. Mitsuki then reveals 3 white snakes he had hidden in his sleeve and asks how did he know, impressed that Kawaki had noticed his trick.
In the anime, while watching Kawaki training with Naruto together with Sarada, Mitsuki was impressed and told Sarada that with Kawaki learning ninjutsu, on top of his scientific ninja tools and Kāma, that he has what it takes to be a shinobi. When Sarada expresses her envy over Kawaki receiving special treatment from Naruto, Mitsuki explains that to Naruto everyone in the village is family, speaking from his own experience.
Kawaki and Mitsuki support eachother several times during the Boro fight, the first time being Mitsuki creating the antidote to Boro's poison which Kawaki has ingested. Kawaki and Mitsuki also protected eachother against Boro while stalling for Sarada to find his core. When Boro attempted to attack Mitsuki while he was down, Kawaki jumped infront of him and absorbed the attack. When Boro sent Kawaki flying, Mitsuki jumped in and caught him, holding tight to him even while they were sliding on the ground for support.
After Sarada destroys the core and Boro begins to malfunction, Kawaki helps Mitsuki to his feet, wrapping his arm around his shoulder for support. After everyone lets their guard down, thinking Boro was done and defeated, Boro slams one of his deformed arms down on Mitsuki, knocking him unconscious. Kawaki retaliates by blasting his arm away, calling him a monster, but Boro just swats him away with his other arm, knocking him unconscious as well.
After Boro is actually defeated, the 4 return home where Kawaki and Sarada are both hospitalized since they sustained the worse injuries. When Naruto visits Kawaki to thank him for saving him, he tells him that he didnt do a thing and that he should thank Mitsuki and Sarada instead.
Great Sea Battle of Kirigakure Arc[]
Mitsuki tells Kawaki he finds him interesting
Noticing Mitsuki staring hard at him, Kawaki asks why, Mitsuki responds by saying he was just thinking how interesting he is, leaving Kawaki confused by his odd statement. Later when everyone takes a break to wait for the boat to be fixed, Kawaki decides to go for a walk and Mitsuki decided to do the same. As Kawaki is walking around Mitsuki follows not far behind him, stopping when Kawaki stops and resuming when Kawaki resumes walking. Annoyed, Kawaki finally asks how long Mitsuki intends on following him, to which Mitsuki responds that he isnt following him and just happens to be going in the same direction as him. Kawaki knows that was a lie but doesnt object any further and tells him to do what he wants. Continuing on his walk, Mitsuki continues to follow him.

Later Sarada meets up with Mitsuki who is now walking alone, Sarada gives him an update on the situation with the repairs. Sarada asks what Mitsuki was doing and he tells her he was observing Kawaki. Sarada questions why him again and Mitsuki tells her that its because he's interesting. Sarada, confused by his statement, asks how and Mitsuki tells her for many reasons, but doesnt go into specifics. Still confused by what he means, Sarada just leaves it at that, saying that sometimes he really doesnt make any sense.
Labyrinth Game Arc[]
Kawaki and Sarada meet up with Mitsuki to investigate what happened to Boruto only to find him pinned to a tree by a trap unable to move. Kawaki tries to go free him but Sarada warns him not to because he might get caught in the trap too and to wait for back up, but Kawaki tells her they dont have time to wait for reinforcements and should save him now. Ignoring her warning, Kawaki walks forward and triggers the trap that covers his entire body in exploding tags, but Kawaki was able to use fire style to free himself and Mitsuki from the trap.
Code's Assault Arc[]
When Boruto and Kawaki argue over the appropriate training method to deal with Code, Mitsuki asks Kawaki what he suggests would be more efficient. Kawaki stands up and says that its something he thinks they'll all agree with and attacks Mitsuki, who reacts in time to block it. Kawaki praises Mitsuki's reflexes and skills and Mitsuki points out that Kawaki wants to train through actual combat. Unlike Sarada and Boruto who were against the idea, Mitsuki actually says he's fine with Kawaki's method of training.
Omnipotence Arc[]
Mitsuki restrains Kawaki along with everyone else and covers his karma, saying that he wont let him go even if he dies. When Mitsuki realizes that it was Kawaki who killed Boruto before and not Code, he immediate chases after Kawaki who had gone on the run to kill him. Before he could get to Kawaki, Ada triggered Omnipotence which swapped all his memories of Boruto to Kawaki, making him now target Boruto instead to avenge Kawaki.
New Era: Part II[]
Boruto's Return Arc[]
Mitsuki meets Kawaki who is staring out at the village, Kawaki tells him to calm his bloodlust because its suffocating him. Mitsuki apologizes but explains that its just because he wants to protect him and cant forgive Boruto for what he did, vowing once again to kill him. Kawaki tells him thats all well and find but to quit following him around because its creeping him out. Mitsuki is shocked by Kawaki's remark and starts to say something but is cut off by Shikamaru informing Kawaki or new claw mark sighting and he flies off to deal with that. Mitsuki is left alone with his thoughts and states out loud that Kawaki is the sun shining brightly upon his moon, but due to Kawaki's earlier behavior, Mitsuki questions if that is true.

When Mitsuki first met Kawaki, he tried to pull a prank on him and was impressed when he didnt fall for it.
Mitsuki was one of the first people who saw Kawaki's potential to be a great shinobi.
When Boruto tells Kawaki he's not alone anymore, Mitsuki is one of the people he looks at, signifying he's one of the reasons hes not alone anymore. He then says 'Its true, its almost unbelievable' which is a direct reference to what Naruto told him about friends changing his whole world in unbelievable ways, confirming he see's Mitsuki as a friend who changed his whole world.
Mitsuki saved Kawaki multiple times during their fight with Boro, and Kawaki protected Mitsuki several times during the fight as well.
During Kawaki's nightmare showing the people hes afraid of getting killed because of him, Mitsuki is one of the people shown dead.
Mitsuki went with Boruto to visit Kawaki at the hospital after his 'failed' mission with Team 10 and looked sad when seeing Kawaki so depressed.

When everyone takes a break while their boat is being repaired, Kawaki chooses to go for a walk around the harbor and Mitsuki decides to do the same, in actuality Mitsuki just follows Kawaki around on his.
Kawaki didnt react aggressively to Mitsuki following him, instead he just asked why. Mitsuki claims that he wasnt following him and just happened to be going the same way. Kawaki, although annoyed, gives up and just tells him to do what he wants.
Mitsuki admits in the very next episode to Sarada that he was in fact following Kawaki, saying that he was observing him.

Mitsuki is able to read Kawaki quite well despite their limited time spent together, he admired Kawaki's ability to express himself freely while he himself struggles doing so, and he was able to see through Kawaki's stubbornness and knew that he secretly agreed with Boruto which is why he didnt kill Araumi due to his influence on him.

Kawaki and Mitsuki actually share alot of similarities
Kawaki and Mitsuki both had 'father' figures involved with science who experimented on them and put them through hellish tests, Mitsuki having a bomb in his heart and Orochimaru erasing his memories several times and putting him through the same trial trying to make him awaken sage mode, and Kawaki being implanted with Kāma and heavily modified into a cyborg with ninja tech and enduring gruesome training drills by Jigen to force him to master Kāma.
Kawaki and Mitsuki both arent entirely human, Mitsuki is a clone of Orochimaru and some other unknown dna while Kawaki is a cyborg.
Mitsuki and Kawaki are also very closely related to science and scientists, Mitsuki through Orochimaru and Kawaki through Amado.
Kawaki and Mitsuki have both 'left' Konoha in order to protect it and both were brought back by Boruto.
Both Kawaki and Mitsuki felt like they didnt belong anywhere in the village.
Both hyper fixated on the person they considered their light who saved them, for Mitsuki it was Boruto and with Kawaki it was Naruto.
Both are scientifically enhanced beings, Kawaki through ninja tech and Mitsuki through bio engineering.
Initially both were ruthless and not hesitant about killing anyone they deemed an enemy due to their upbringing, but eventually softened up after the positive influence of their respective 'suns'.
They both made a connection with a stray animal, Mitsuki with a stray cat and Kawaki with a stray dog.
Because of their upbringing they both had a hard time understanding basic social interactions and behavior and didnt totally understand the full concept of good and bad.
They also had a hard time expressing themselves properly, with Mitsuki he was a pretty blank slate and basically followed whatever Boruto said or did for guidance on how to behave, with Kawaki he reacts with hostility anytime hes frustrated and doesnt know how to put things into words, often cursing at people he dislikes.
They both went too far during their sparring matches and didnt realize how to hold back, Mitsuki when he fought Iwabe nearly choked him to death, and Kawaki hit Naruto with a full powered Kāma blast to the face at point blank range.
Their way of expressing emotions initially actually contrasts eachother, Mitsuki, although smiling, would often respond apathetically in most social interactions and situations, while Kawaki often responds aggressively and violent.
Mitsuki and Kawaki's bodies are the opposite when it comes to food, whereas Mitsuki doesnt need to eat and doesnt have much interest in food, Kawaki loves food and actually needs to eat in order for his body to heal and function properly.
In opening 10 Kawaki is shown catching a falling Himawari mid air, right after that Mitsuki extends his arm for Kawaki to grab as he swings to throw Himawari safely in Boruto's direction, before being pulled back in Mitsuki's direction.
In the official 2022 calender release, Mitsuki is looking back smiling at Kawaki, who is enjoying trying Ikayaki for the first time.

Its not a very popular pairing but it has its supporters, alot of its appeal came from the anime that developed their relationship dynamic alot more than the manga did. People like it mainly for their unusual and comedic dynamic with Mitsuki being intrigued by Kawaki, even openly admitting to him that he finds him interesting and even following him around during their break. As for Kawaki, despite being slightly weirded out by Mitsuki's interest in him, he doesnt react with hostility and is instead just perplexed by it in the anime. People have even jokingly referred to Kawaki as Mitsuki's 'new sun' given his recent sudden interest and fascination with Kawaki, which ironically ended up becoming true due to omnipotence. Theres also some intrigue in their relationship being both strongly connected with science, during the Mitsuki disappearance arc it was revealed that Mitsuki did feel isolated and alone as the 'non human' of his peers so some people saw potential for them to bond over this fact since now Mitsuki finally has someone like him he can talk to, especially now that the two are officially teammates. Their rival pairings are KawaSara, BoruMitsu, KawaCho, Mitsucho, and MitsuSara.
